We are delighted to share that Ms. Hiruni Niwunhella, a member of our staff, has been honored with the Shook Mentor Award at North Carolina State University. This prestigious recognition celebrates exceptional mentorship and leadership, reflecting her inspiring impact on students and peers through her dedication, guidance, and commitment that go well beyond expectations. Her achievement brings great pride to our department and stands as a testament to the positive influence she continues to make. Congratulations, Ms.Hiruni, on this well-deserved achievement!

Four talented students from the Department of Industrial Management proudly represented the University of Kelaniya at “Vibrance,” the cultural program organized by VIT Chennai under the ODYSSEY event. With the team name “SheSeya,” Level 3 students Lakshika Shankari and Oshani Kavindya, together with Level 2 students Nadeesha Kavindi and Wasana Senarath, delivered a captivating performance blending Sri Lankan traditional dance with Indian classical elements. In addition to their performance, the team also received the opportunity to take part in a series of programs conducted at VIT Chennai, making it a memorable and enriching experience for the students and a proud moment for the University of Kelaniya.

Students from the Department of Industrial Management were awarded Colours at the University of Kelaniya Colours Award Ceremony 2023 & 2024 in recognition of their outstanding sporting achievements, dedication, and commitment while successfully balancing academic and athletic excellence.

The Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, received multiple prestigious recognitions at the Vice Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony 2025 for excellence in digital innovation, research, and academic service. The Department secured 1st Place as the Department with the Best Website in the University 2025, while Dr. Chathumi Ayanthi Kavirathna was awarded 1st Place as the Most Outstanding Young Researcher of the University of Kelaniya. Prof. Ruwan Wickramaarachchi received a Silver-Plated Medal for 30 Years of Continuous and Meritorious Service, and several academic staff members were presented with Outstanding Researcher – Merit Awards, reflecting the Department’s strong commitment to academic excellence, research impact, teamwork, and digital advancement.

The Department of Industrial Management successfully conducted a 10-day Orientation Program for the 2024/2025 new intake, designed to support students’ transition into university life. The program included academic awareness sessions, team-building activities, outbound training, a language camp, and recreational events, concluding with a gender diversity awareness session and a student talent show. Overall, the initiative provided a strong foundation for new students to confidently begin their academic journey
