The applicant shall be a graduating student of the Bachelor of Science Honours in Information Technology or the Bachelor of Science Honours in Management and Information Technology degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

The applicant shall qualify for the award of First Class Honours.

For an application to be considered for the evaluation, the applicant shall have at least 70% of the total marks for the application.

The recipient shall not have been subject to any disciplinary action taken by the Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Two Gold Medals are awarded to the students who achieve the highest marks under the marking scheme: one for the Bachelor of Science Honours in Information Technology and one for the Bachelor of Science Honours in Management and Information Technology
